Welcome...

Capoeira (Ka-poh-eyrha) is best described as that thing Eddy Gordo does in the video game Tekken 3.  It’s a centuries old Afro-Brazilian martial art that has made a big impact throughout the world.  Flooding the media markets like movies, print ads and video games.   Capoeira is bleeding into our society because of its broad appeal.  It offers self expression with dance, self defense, gymnastics, music and song.  It takes years to become proficient in Capoeira.  The game is played in a Roda, (hawdah) a circle of participants engaged in providing Axe’ (asheh) which means good energy.  It is this energy provided by the singing, the music and the movements which enchants all involved.  Music plays a big role in the game of Capoeira.  The Capoeira percussion instruments (Bateria) usually include a conga drum, tambourine, agogo bell and berimbau (bear-im-bow).  The berimbau is string and gourd instrument that plays a variety of 3 toned rhythms.  The pace of the game and the players of Capoeira are controlled by this key instrument.  To find out more contact us.
